Why we started Invoi.vn

The problem

When doing business in Vietnam, we found it frustrating that invoicing lived inside accounting software built around the accountant’s workflow.

In Vietnam, that was always the accountant’s job. When a project is finished, the business owner often asks the accountant to create the invoice, waits for it, and only then sends it to the customer. Business owners never open the accounting system or issue invoices themselves because they are afraid of making mistakes.

Yet they are the ones who know what was sold, to whom, and when it should be invoiced. They also know which suppliers sent them invoices and what those invoices were for, information their accountants need to do their job.

As a result, information moves back and forth through calls, messages and emails, getting lost, delayed or entered incorrectly. This slows everything down, creates unnecessary work for accountants, and leaves business owners with less visibility and control.

The problem isn’t accountants. They are essential in every company. The problem is that the people creating value and the people responsible for accounting work in separate systems, with very little visibility between them.

Vietnam is missing a layer that connects business owners and accountants in one place, one that is simple and collaborative, and gives both sides the information and tools they need to work together.

The idea

Today, we’re building Invoi.vn as that missing layer.

Business owners can issue invoices themselves if they want to, without worrying about getting the details or compliance requirements wrong, while Invoi handles the complexity in the background. Or they can let their accountant continue issuing invoices as before. Either way, both sides see the same information.

The same applies to the rest of the business. Invoices from suppliers appear automatically from the tax authority, so owners no longer need to download, forward or manually enter them. Bank transactions come into the same place and can be matched with invoices, so accountants no longer need to ask owners for bank statements, and reconciliation becomes much easier.

Instead of information being passed back and forth between the owner and accountant, it stays connected in one place. Both sides can see what is happening in the business.

The by-product

Over time, this connected data creates a real-time picture of a company’s financial health, turning everyday business activity into a financial history that can help demonstrate performance and creditworthiness.

For millions of small businesses, access to financing remains a major obstacle to growth. Traditional lending often requires hefty paperwork, collateral and lengthy approval processes. For businesses with healthy cash flow but few assets to offer as collateral, Invoi can provide quick access to a revolving line of credit directly within the platform when cash is tight.

What we're focused on

We want business owners and accountants to stay more connected. Each side brings different knowledge to the business, and Invoi brings that information together in one place to help businesses save time, reduce errors, work more efficiently and gain better control over their finances.

We focus on making that experience feel simple, intuitive and delightful.

Our goal is to help businesses spend less time managing their finances and more time running and growing their business.

The name

Invoice. Where it starts.

In Vietnam, that word gets simpler the moment it's spoken: /in•voi/, invoi.

We didn't pick the letters. We kept the Vietnamese pronunciation, the easy way to say it, and made that the name.

The name is simple. The product too. As everything should be.
