Company name

Legal name, brand, and what to check.

You are picking two things, and they do not have to be identical: the legal company name on the Enterprise Registration Certificate, and the name customers see on a website, quote, or invoice brand.

The legal name has to work in Vietnamese administration. The brand has to be sayable on a call. Many companies use a short brand and a longer legal name (Công ty TNHH …).

#Check before you fall in love

Before you print cards or buy a domain:

  • Search the National Business Registration Portal so you are not copying a name already registered
  • Say the name out loud in Vietnamese and English. If people always ask you to spell it, it will slow every intro
  • Check the obvious domain and a Zalo / social handle you can actually get
  • Avoid a name that only works as an English joke if your customers and your accountant work in Vietnamese

Conditional businesses (finance, education, medical, and others) can have extra naming rules. If you are in one of those, ask the person who will file the registration — usually a lawyer or a formation service — before you commit.

#Invoice and bank reality

The name on the VAT invoice is the legal name, plus tax code (MST). Customers who claim input VAT will match that line to their records. A pretty brand that does not match the legal name is fine on the website; it is not a substitute on the invoice.

If you later change the legal name, that is a company-record change, not a logo swap. Pick something you can live with for years.

#Invoi

When you set up Invoi, company name and MST come from the company profile so invoices show the registered identity. See Quick Start.
